How to create seperate Differential Backup Files

Instead of creating one file with the different Differential Backups in it, I
would like to create seperate files so I can script it easier - like the DB
Maintenance Plan wizard generates a job which creates seperate files for each
of the Full Backups.
I cannot seem to find the option to specify this thru the GUI/Script for
Differential DB Backups though. Using All Tasks->DB BAckup (only way to
create diff backup except via script?) you only get the choice of Append or
Overwrite Existing Media. Or alt, how do I specify which Backup in my file of
multiple backups to restore via script.
Any help much appreciated -Thanks

I read the article. It was good but similar to the Backup Strategy's I've
read in the Online Books in SQL Server.
I have the plan I want to implement but was stuck on my original question.

How to create a new failover cluster

At the beginning , I installed SQL server 2000 on two seperate computers
running the windows 2003 cluster and there is no problem . Cause SQL server
is cluster-aware setup program. But Today , I lost one of them. the first
computer's operating system crashed.
Now I want to add a new sql server to the cluster as a new node .
what should I do ?
on the new computer I do the following steps
1. install windows 2003 ( ok )
2. use cluadmin , add new node to cluster. (ok )
3. install sql2000 enterprise .
choice
A.local server
B.remote server
C.virtual server.

How to COPY table/database to another machine

Is it very involved to copy a database from one server to another in a seperate location? Or should I find a MSSQLSERVER forum to post this in?

The short answer to your move question is, not necessarily.
In Enterprise Manager, right-click your database, choose "All Tasks" and then either "Import Data..." or "Export Data..." (depending on what direction you're going).
This opens the "Data Transformation Services" wizard which can do just about everything you need for your move.
Keep in mind you'll need the appropriate SQL Server port accessiable to where your data is going, and recreating Account permissions in the new location may need some extra attention.

How large is your DB? If its not to large, create backups and port those over to the other machine and do a restore. If its large, you might have trouble moving the data around depending on the type of device you are going to use (CDs, DVDs, etc)

No, the extension is not important. Just ensure you select the correct file when doing the Restore.
